Women's Development Organization "GIE SENPRESNEG"
DAKAR, Senegal
| The Women's Development Organization was started by a group of rural women who wanted to fight against poverty, under development and devastating household conditions within villages. Working in the villages of Malika, Djiddah, and Keur Massar, WDO serves women eighteen years and older. By providing sustainable activities, it aims to break the determental cycle of dependence and poverty. With seven elected board members, eighteen members, and twenty-eight volunteers, WDO focuses on training women through a network of exchange and communication with other associations. In the future, they would like to develop an infrastructure within these villages through the placement of bakeries and fast food restaurants, as well technological accessories including photocopiers, fax machines, phones and internet access. |
