The Institute for Women's Studies and Research (IWSR) is a non-governmental organization that was established in 1986 to promote the status of women in Iran through research and training programs and the inclusion of women in policy making. The organization consists of a board of trustees, a managing board, and two full-time staff personnel. They conduct research and studies on women's issues, women's rights, violence against women and other related fields, hold training courses, and advocate for women's rights in Iran. They have implemented educational workshops and seminars at the national and international level for exploring and resolving women's problems. In addition, they have established a "National Committee for Prevention of Violence against Women" and offer consultancy services to families, women and youth.
