Host a Jagriti volunteer -- Register your group! Overview Motivated by concerns of poverty and injustice throughout Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America, women have been coming together in groups and formal organizations to work for their rights, to improve their status in society and to improve the daily conditions of their lives. Identified by the United Nations as "non-governmental organizations" (NGOs), women's groups are emerging as a powerful force for women's empowerment. Jagriti International seeks to further and support the empowerment of women by working with women's organizations to provide international cultural exchanges and cross-cultural learning. Two programs have been designed for this purpose: Bridging Worlds residency programs and Awakening Journeys cross-cultural travel. Women's organizations in developing countries of Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe and Latin America will be eligible to host a Bridging Worlds volunteer from North America, Europe and Australia; women's organizations in North America and Western Europe will be eligible to host a Bridging Worlds Emerging Leader who is a member of a women's organization in a developing country. There is no fee to register as a Bridging Worlds host organization. Under the Bridging Worlds residency program, women's organizations will have the opportunity to host a skilled volunteer for a period of two (2) to six (6) months to work with and learn about their organization. Host organizations will also have the opportunity to meet with small groups of Awakening Journey travelers to share and explain their work on behalf of local women. Our Philosophy about Women's Organizations Jagriti International believes:
