| WOMEN SHINING BRIGHTLY
|
January 2005
|
Hello to New and Old Friends.
As the new President of Jagriti, like Dr. Michele, I also feel that the power
of the full moon has helped to re-engage Jagriti's deep connection to women's
organizations around the world. These past few months we continued to feel the
pull, as well as our deepest heart's desire to build bridges between women
around the world, but the board realized that Jagriti had reached a turning
point. While the groundwork was done, we needed to step back, re-evaluate and
transition into a sustainable and efficient global benefit organization!

THE PATH WE FOLLOWED
Since August, 2004, all of us at Jagriti have had many heart-to-heart talks as
to how we would move forward. While we considered the challenges facing Jagriti
such as politics, economics, wars in Iraq and on terrorism, Tsunamis, and
social issues; at no time were any of us willing to give up. We simply agreed
that we needed to find a new way. This new way for Jagriti has emerged with the
same goals; but rebalancing the different talents and energy amongst us.

A NEW WAY OF BEING
Working as a life coach, in the field of women's empowerment -- based solely on
heart-centered healing and individual capacity building - - as President, what
I hope to keep alive is Jagriti's vision and deeply felt mission. Part of my
responsibilities as President will be to convey the amazing stories of
Jagriti's partners and the various projects all of you are working on in your
organizations. My goal will be to captivate and encourage possible donors to
celebrate your enthusiasm, hopes and dreams by sponsoring programs in support
of your mission.
When it comes to creating meaningful "global change" Dr. Michele explains our
work beautifully, "We are dealing with oceans here, vast oceans of culturally
entrenched systems. What we must keep in mind is that if we toss sufficient
pebbles in the water, we can only hope that the pebbles will make a big
splash." This is what we are dealing with, changing cultural beliefs and social
structures that imprison all of us. Yet, our hearts, I believe, are connected
to give each other strength.
INTER-CONNECTEDNESS
As human beings I believe we are all connected, and of course, women feel that
connection in the deepest of places.the heart. In my own heart, I believe, that
when ones work is brought to life via programs in support of global change; we
are bringing to light a world that works for all of us. I feel that everyone
should meet one's neighbor in other countries as human beings, looking behind
the personality, and truly connecting with our hearts and souls. At Jagriti
International we are committed to going beyond the stereotypes. Our cries are
your cries, the suffering in your heart is our pain as well. Our desire to live
a peaceful, healthy, productive, and joyous life is one and the same.
OUR LIGHTS ARE SHINING BRIGHTLY
So, for Jagriti International the groundwork has been done. The programs are in
place, our voice has reached all of you, and now we are ready to begin anew.
"Remember that the power of the moon, like the power of women goes in cycles -
sometimes we see it shining bright in the sky and sometimes we see nothing. But
it's always there waiting to emerge and awaken all of us." Well, we have
emerged and our lights are shining brightly.
It is all of your voices who keep the heart and soul of Jagriti alive. I am
honored and deeply humbled to represent Jagriti's partners and to serve as
President of Jagriti International.
