Awakening Journeys 2004

Do you feel it's time you truly awakened
to your own potential? Do you want your travel experience to
be part of a greater movement towards global equality and peace?
Then join us on our Awakening Journeys in August and September
and let us guide you down a path toward self-discovery and world
transformation.
Awakening Journeys provide cross-cultural travel for women and
men who are interested in visiting places and meeting people
who are actively involved in transforming their societies. Our
2004 Awakening Journeys will take us to Pakistan, Afghanistan,
India and Nepal where we will meet women from Jagriti's partner
women's groups working on such issues as women's rights, women's
literacy and girls' education, reproductive and sexual health,
income generation, domestic violence, childhood labor and prostitution.
You will also be a part of history in the making by participating
in a Jagriti Bridging Worlds Workshop and observing, in just
two days, the power of women finding their own voices. You will
share in the excitement as young women leaders, representing
women's groups from around the country, come together - many
for the first time - to describe their work, goals and dreams
for women in their country. And you'll serve as an election
observer as Emerging Leaders are democratically elected to participate
in Jagriti's 2005 leadership training program in the U.S. As
witnesses to this workshop and the women's stories, Jagriti
travelers validate the courageous efforts of local women to
improve their lives and realize their dreams.
Each journey will be dedicated to experiencing the social, cultural,
economic and religious life of women. Site visits to women's
groups, study guides and lectures/discussions with local and
international experts will provide an in-depth understanding
of the status of women in each country. Important tourist sights
will be included and you will have ample time to support the
local economy (i.e., to shop!).
