Thanks to Olivia Baker - Our 2003 Summer Intern

Olivia grew up in a multi-cultural community in Sacramento, California, and is currently a Junior at the University of California in Santa Barbara. Olivia will be graduating in two years with a B.A. in Global Studies and an emphasis in European cultures and ideologies. She has been working with Jagriti International since May, 2003 and hopes to explore the value of education as a tool for the empowerment of women in developing countries. She hopes someday to be involved in international peace relations, and to help bridge the gap between the Western world and countries that have yet to establish a peaceful relationship amongst both themselves as well as more powerful nations. Olivia has worked at Starbucks Coffee Co. for the past four years, and is in the process of being promoted to Shift Supervisor. Between slaving away at Starbucks, and volunteering with Jagriti International, she doesn't have a lot of spare time. But when she does, she likes to go hiking in the back country, or play volleyball on the beach. She also enjoys losing herself in a book whenever she has time to read.
