The Fund for Global Human Rights

One of the goals of Jagriti International is to create bridges of support and understanding between women's organizations and other groups around the world. The Fund for Global Human Rights (FGHR), has recently announced their first grant cycle and has requested that Jagriti International share this information with our 40 partner groups in Pakistan and India. FGHR seeks to strengthen the human rights movement globally through grantmaking to local, national and regional human rights organizations. Over the past decade, efforts to promote human rights have proliferated around the world, with activists often working under adverse and even dangerous conditions. Despite this critical work by grassroots human rights activists and increasing attention to human rights problems, many organizations on the front lines of the human rights struggle have little or no access to the resources they need to expand the scope and impact of their work. The FGHR is devoted to meeting the needs of these organizations by facilitating support for them where the need is great and the resources limited. We wish our Jagriti partners in India and Pakistan, who are actively involved with critical human rights issues, success in obtaining much needed financial support from this new fund.
