Congratulations to Lindsay

for being the 2003 recipient of the Soroptimist International

A Difference Award for International Goodwill and
Understanding.
Soroptimist International (SI) is a world-wide organization

Co-founder of Jagriti International with Dr. Michele Andina,
Lindsay Shields-Green was first awakened to the global and local
concerns of women by activist Judith Luther Wilder with whom
she served as a Steering Committee member on both the Beijing-based
U.S.-China Conference on Women's Issues and on the California
State Economic Network for Women. She also facilitates Southern
California chapters of the International Women Presidents' Organization.
Lindsay has been involved in numerous efforts to improve the
arts and cultural community of Long Beach since the late 1980's
when she was appointed the first full-time director of the Public
Corporation for the Arts. She also participates in mentoring
activities to help young women in business, writes for Enterprising
Women magazine and has interests ranging from arts to sports.
Last year Lindsay was selected as an Outstanding Woman Leader
by the Symposium for California's Emerging Women Leaders, a
project of the Washington D.C.-based Center for Policy Alternatives,
and recently was appointed to the national Women's Leadership
Exchange Advisory Board that will hold a conference in Long
Beach this July.
We commend Lindsay for her wonderful achievements and salute
her receipt of this International Goodwill and Understanding
Award! |
Tools With Heart and Jagriti |
Executive
board member, Felice Willat, turned her career focus as
co-founder of Day Runner, Inc. to empowering women with
her company, Tools With Heart. The company's Woman's Book
of Changes and other journals guide women through life-changing
events using clever warm-up exercises and powerful journal-writing
processes. LifeStory Timeline and Seasonal Changes Log
are warm-up tools to track important events, while Reflections
and Dreams prompt journal writing to express creativity,
release emotions and even heal illness. Journal writing
has been proven to lift depression, enhance meaning and
spark actions that contribute to recovery.

|
Felice and her daughter Bonnie, who runs the company, are working
with Jagriti International to develop custom journals for Awakening
Journey travelers and Bridging Worlds volunteers. Jagriti Tools
will encourage travelers to keep track of their journeys and
record their interactions with women's groups all over the world.
Mikki Andina, Founder of Jagriti, hopes these personal journals
will become a vital documentary of Jagriti's cross-cultural
learning exchanges.
