Jagriti International receives approximately
150-200 inquiries per month. The following is an example of
the needs of women around the world. We referred this inquiry
to Sonal Mehta, our advisor in India who introduced Shiva* to
Jyoti Sangha, a local women's group. Jagriti International
will follow up with Shiva's case.
Dear Jagriti International,
I need immediate help, as my husband has taken a woman
in adultery. This woman says that she has married my husband
and that he is giving her large amounts of money. I have
found out that she is actually a married woman who still
lives with her first husband and who has three children
with him. Apparently she met my husband outside of the
home and began to have an extramarital affair with him.
I feel as if they have both cheated me. My husband is
now mentally and emotionally abusive as well as denying
the support I have given to my family my whole life. He
openly tells me that she is his wife now and that I am
no longer his wife. He wants me to look after my own expenditures
now. He won't give me any money and I am in severe distress.
I need help. What should I do?
Sincerely, Shiva
