Reaching Out to Women's Groups in Mexico

by Rachel Lorenzo
Mexico Program Assistant, UCSB Work Study

Jagriti International believes in the empowerment of women throughout the world and for that reason has begun the important project of reaching out to our neighboring women of Mexico. In hopes of expanding our network of women's organizations, Jagriti has translated most of its information pamphlets to Spanish. As of February 2003, Jagriti sent out registration packets to 42 Mexican women's organizations throughout the Mexican Republic that concentrate on issues ranging from domestic violence to native women's rights. Currently, the organization is working on translating its web page into Spanish so that Mexican women's organizations may learn more about Jagriti. Also, as part of it's outreach efforts Jagriti International is looking for Latina women organizations in the United States as possible partners. Although we are in the beginning stages of reaching out to Mexico, Jagriti International is enthusiastic about this project and has many high hopes for the future. If you are interested in working with us please contact us at info@jagriti-international.org.
