To Our Jagriti Friends,

On behalf of the board of Jagriti International and our 55+ partner women's organizations around the world, we would like to celebrate the season and thank you for your interest and support this past year.

During our second year we conducted "Jagriti Awakening Events" in Santa Barbara, Palm Springs and Oakland, California and we were proud to be able to send two American "Bridging Worlds" volunteers to Kathmandu, Nepal - one working with the Women's Awareness Center and the other with Women Acting Together for Change. In October we visited our partner organizations in Afghanistan and Pakistan and in 2003 we plan to send skilled volunteers and grants to these courageous women's groups. Be sure to read about "My Journey to Afghanistan" and about the work of Afghan women's organizations.

In January 2003 we are making "Awakening Journeys" to India and Nepal and in each country we'll be conducting a "Jagriti Interaction Workshop" with emerging leaders who represent more than 40 women's groups.

One of our financial goals for 2003 is to raise $150,000 for our Bridging Worlds 2 program, which is open to women from developing countries. This will enable 8-12 emerging leaders of groups from Afghanistan, India, Nepal and Pakistan to build their skills during a three month internship with a U.S. women's group. For these women, with limited opportunities for advanced education and training, to be selected as a Jagriti International Bridging Worlds 2 volunteer is a dream of a lifetime.
