Raising Awareness about Jagriti International:
California Events

Patti Friedel, center, and Indira Jena, rightSanta Barbara

In April 2002 Indira Jena and Uma Maheehwan from Nirnaya in Secunderbad, India, visited Santa Barbara. They were the featured speakers before 40 people at a luncheon hosted by Patti Friedel, a member of Jagriti International advisory board. As part of their moving presentation, they showed a beautiful 10 minute film depicting their work in India training women and helping them to create village women's groups.

Oakland

In August 2002 Jagriti International volunteers and former work-study students Kate Freeman, Sarah Harding and Jessica Osier joined Carolyn Vallerga to organize a Jagriti International event in Oakland, California. 30 people learned about the work of the Foundation from Dr. Michele Andina and watched a film of the Founding Friends 1998 Awakening Journey to Nepal. Sarah Harding was also presented with a set of Jagriti International Tools, including a beautiful bound journal for her trip to Nepal as a Bridging Worlds volunteer.
