- Opportunities to network with other women's organizations that
are part of the Bridging Worlds program.
- Opportunity for members of your organization to serve on the Jagriti International Board of Directors and Advisory Board
- Opportunity to submit candidates to participate in Jagriti International’s Bridging Worlds Emerging Leaders program
Examples of Projects and Volunteer Activities We trust that you know best the needs of your organization and community, and Jagriti International wants to find volunteers who can best meet your needs and help you to achieve your goals and objectives. When describing your project needs on the registration form, please be as specific as possible about the type of skills you would like a volunteer to bring to your organization. Below are examples of local needs that groups from developing countries have discussed with us.
- Your staff wants to improve their English language skills. A
volunteer could work with small groups or individuals on a daily
basis to improve spoken or written English.
- Your organization has a computer, but only one person knows
how to use MS Word (word-processing), Excel, Powerpoint, Access
or other software programs.
- Getting on line, setting up an e-mail account and navigating
the Internet are challenges for your organization.
- You would like to design a web site.
- You would like help documenting your organization's work by
producing a brochure or video
- Your group needs assistance in designing training curricula
for special groups (e.g. adolescents, community outreach workers,
nurses)
- Book-keeping and organizational management skills need to be
improved. Local consultants are very expensive.
- Your organization needs assistance in developing a fund raising
program.
- Women in your organization want to learn self-defense
Eligibility Criteria To register as a Bridging Worlds host, your group should be:
- Preferably created and founded by women;
- Governed and directed primarily by women;
- Registered in its home country as a not-for-profit agency (This
requirement may be waived in certain countries, e.g. Afghanistan,
where agency registration is difficult); and
- Working to serve women and demonstrating a clear commitment
to women's empowerment, equality and female human rights (health,
education and economic access).
We welcome any qualified women's organization to register
as a Jagriti International Bridging Worlds host. If your
organization meets the above criteria, please complete
the Bridging Worlds Host Organization registration.
If you have questions about your organization's eligibility,
please contact us for further
information. Participation Agreement Organizations hosting Bridging Worlds volunteers must agree to:
- Complete a Bridging Worlds Host registration form, including
a clear description of your specific needs and time frame for
hosting a Bridging Worlds volunteer.
- Be willing to organize appropriate accommodations (single bedroom,
shared or private bath facilities) for your volunteer. The costs
of room and board will be paid for by the volunteer.
- Conduct a brief orientation for your Bridging Worlds volunteer
using Jagriti Tools.
- Identify one member of your organization who will work closely
with the volunteer and facilitate a satisfactory outcome for both
your organization and the volunteer
- Complete an evaluation of your volunteer and a final report of your participation in the Bridging Worlds program at the end of the residency period.
In addition, as a partner organization of Jagriti International,
your organization agrees to:
- Have your name included in our publications and on our web site
- Provide Jagriti International with information about your organization
- Be part of our women's organization network
- Collaborate with our local Jagriti representatives and advisors
- Be willing to host a visit lasting between 2 hours and one day,
of up to 20 travelers participating in a Jagriti International Awakening
Journey.
Registrations are not being accepted at this time as Jagriti International has indefinitely suspended active programs due to heightened security concerns and stringent U.S. visa requirements.
