Examples of Volunteer Activities
Bridging Worlds Emerging Leaders from developing countries must be members of a women’s organization registered as a Bridging Worlds Host. The volunteers will be fluent in your local language and committed to returning to work with their own organization after the residency. We will match the interest and work of the Emerging Leader and her group with the work and issues that your organization is addressing. For example, a woman from Pakistan working on domestic violence issues might be matched with a North American- or European-based woman’s shelter or another agency working on similar issues.
Eligibility Criteria To register as a Bridging World host your organization should be:
- Preferably created and founded by women;
- Governed and directed primarily by women;
- Registered in your home country as a not-for-profit
agency and
- Working to serve women and demonstrating a clear commitment
to womens empowerment, equality and female human rights
(health, education and economic access).
We welcome any qualified women's organization to register
as a Jagriti International Bridging Worlds host. If your
organization meets the above criteria, please complete
the Bridging Worlds Host Organization registration.
If you have questions about your organizations
eligibility, please contact
us for further information. Participation Agreement Organizations hosting Bridging Worlds Emerging Leaders must agree to:
- Complete a Bridging Worlds Host registration
form, including a clear description of your organizations
work
- Be willing to assist with organizing appropriate room and board accommodations for your volunteer (single bedroom, shared or private bath facilities). Jagriti International will work with you to find local families willing to host your volunteer; all volunteers participating as Bridging Worlds Emerging Leaders will receive cost-of-living stipends.
- Conduct a brief orientation for your Bridging Worlds Emerging Leader
using Jagriti Tools
- Identify one member of your organization who will work closely
with the volunteer and facilitate a satisfactory outcome for both
your organization and the volunteer
- Complete an evaluation of your Emerging Leader and your participation
in the Bridging Worlds program at the end of the residency period
In addition, as a partner organization of Jagriti International,
your organization agrees to:
- Have your name included in our publications and on our web site;
- Provide Jagriti International with information about your organization;
- Be part of our womens organization network; and
- Be willing to host a site visit to your
organization
Registrations are not being accepted at this time as Jagriti International has indefinitely suspended active programs due to heightened security concerns and stringent U.S. visa requirements.
